A little embarrassed to askQ.I've been reading through the threads and have learned a great deal. Most of you are way above my head and I'm a little nervous to ask. My goal is quite different from many of you here. I'm a Mom and a teacher, who happens to have a passion for making handcrafted jewelry. I'd like to sell my items online, so I used a site builder through linksky.com. I was selling about 10 items per month. I'd like to be doing more like 10 items per week. I had a friend, not a close friend, offer to re-do my site. She incorporated a lot of things I liked but since she reindexed my site, I'm only selling about 1 item per month. I don't have the income to hire a professional but I did better with my crappy looking site than this one. If you had a bare bones budget and no web design abilities, what would you do? I guess I just want some advice for the small timer. A.Nothing to be embarrassed or nervous about. A top notch web designer needs more things stuffed into their head than an attorney. You've got some fun jewlery the ladies should get a kick out of. Your friend goofed up some things. Along with some HTML technical problems, your home page Keywords look like: Barefoot Sandals, Barefoot sandals. barefootsandals, bare foot sandals, foot jewelry, barefoot sandals, Fancy Feet, Fancy Feet Sandals, wedding accessories, jewelry, toe rings, theme weddings, anklet, anklets, wedding attire, wedding shoes, bridal supplies, brides, jewelry, black tie, formal attire, beads, beaded jewelry, crocheted jewelry, fancy feet, feet sandals, barefoot sandals, feet in sandals, sexy feet in sandals, First problem is there is not supposed to be any line breaks and the whole thing is required to be on one line. The words "barefoot" and "sandals" appear multiple times, which is called sand-bagging or spamming and may cause the web crawlers to skip the page. There's a lot of bum information floating around about keywords. The first ten keywords count the most. Anything more that 25 will probably get whacked off. A search for "bare foot" or "foot" will match "barefoot. A search for "ring" will match "rings". That long batch of keywords will do better as: "Fancy Feet Barefoot Sandals jewelry weddings accessories toe rings anklets attire bridal brides formal beads beaded crocheted sexy" If any of these words do not appear in the web page text, they might be ignored. Every web page on your site should have a different description and keywords that match the purpose and text of that page.
