Songs for a hippie wedding?!?!
Q.need a hand with this one. A friend of mine has been hired to DJ a wedding - the couple getting married are big into the jam band scene, so they'd like a nice mix of songs for them as well as the parents/aunts/uncles/etc... He's asked me to collect a list of songs for him. I need some muti-generational suggestions - songs that will appease everyone! What would you like to hear if you were at a wedding?!?
A.My wife and I walked down to Redemption Songs, we also had Box of Rain and Peggy-O as the bridesmades and ushers walked down. I thought Box of Rain sounded a little weird for the occasion (I wanted Brokedown Palace, but the band said it would sound bad...idiots). The kids went to Octopus' Garden. In hindsight, I wish we could have included Ruben and Cherise. I loved the song back then as well, I just didn't think about it. we went with a heavy dead/phish rotation at our wedding, more often than not, the guests loved the music, having no idea it was the dead/jerry doing their favorite songs...... I realize I've NEVER been to a really cool wedding! Although, my old band did play at one once where the bride and groom rode into the reception on a Harley while we played Jimmy Buffet's "Let's get drunk and screw"!
