Celtic Fado Jewelry.
Q.I am looking for a good place on the web to buy scottish or celtic jewlery. Perferably a his and her ring with celtic knots and a black onyex stone. It is for my girlfriend and I. She is from the clan Mac Donald, although i am not sure about the exact clan. Please, any help will be Greatly apreciated.
A.What a long way the good lady has come since I saw her in the very intimate Great American Music Hall (San Fran) five years ago, where couples could dance among the tables, and patrons were able to (and did) walk up to the singer with offerings of jewelry, whiskey, and flowers. Frankly, I worried before this weekend's show that fame, riches, and the City of Light (she mostly lives in Paris) may have spoiled the very African simplicity and innocence of Evora's live act. Glad I was SO wrong! She still sings barefoot, still sings beautifully wihtout affect or bloated ego, still smokes on stage, drinks before going on stage...she's still Cesaria. How could I have doubted something that obviously can't be ruined? Oh, me of little faith. Although the sold-out crowd was the most ecstatic I've seen at Zellerbach since Afro-Cuban All Stars played last year, I was surprised to hear some complaints after the show to the tune of "all she did was stand there and sing." Well, what the heck did you expect? If that's really such a problem for anyone, they're missing the point...that voice! I took great pleasure in closing my eyes during the show...less visual distraction that way...the music's hypnosis took over and I was entranced. Cesaria's talent has sort of a cumulative effect...the longer you listen, the more likely you are to "go there..." Her band is still outstanding, as it always has been. It's fun to try to pinpoint the various influences in the music...fado, son, soukous, saudade, bolero...if the sum total doesn't say "Cape Verde" to you, you'll get dizzy trying to figure out the particulars.
