wedding band for unmarried man ?

Q.i'm not married, but am thinking of wearing a wedding band just for fun- -or just to see what happens. it'd be sure to freak out a girlfriend or family. but otherwise, do people treat you differently. are you given more respect at work? do people approach you differently? there's certainly nothing illegal about it. lots of women who are not married wear a bunch of rings, even on the magic fourth finger of the left hand.

A.I'm a guy ... whether you have a ring on your finger or not will NOT affect my perception of you. If you are competent and trustworthy, you get promotions and raises and if you are an irresponsible jerk, I will treat you accordingly. Same goes for women ... One observation that I made when I first got married was that I got hit on a lot more frequently. Was it because I had a ring on and the "hitter" knew that I was unavailable? Was it because I had more confience in myself and didn't have that desperate look of wanting a date? I got hit on even more once I had a baby. We lived at the beach and I spent a lot of time outdoors and my son was like a magnet for men. Regarding whether or not our perception of you is affected by wearing a wedding ring...well, I hate to tell you, but we can't see it :-) Keep us informed about the results of your research project :-)) Even though I am not "legally" married, I always wear a ring on my left 4th finger. It saves a lot of unwanted attention....which is good, considering I don't like it and I'm very much comitted to my soul mate. Now that you mention it, you might notice a lot of different treatment if you suddenly start wearing a ring on that finger.... It all started when we first got together. We were so happy and glad to be "free" from bad marriages (that were nothing more than legal arrangements for at least half of the length of the marriage) that we felt we didn't "need" marriage. Also, we both felt that marriage made our mates lazy toward us...and we didn't want that to happen to us. It's not like we think that "if anything ever goes wrong, we can just leave".......but more like knowing we are here because we want to be....rather than in my case (and his too) I was with my ex for over 4800+ days of intense, yet wasted, energy trying to get us straight because I had "made a vow". Of that time, 365+ days were spent there when I was clearly ready to go because I had to save money to pay bills that he had help run up, pay his car off so I didn't leave him with no car, and then I had to come up with $600 to pay the lawyer too. That's not easy, as back then I was only making around $500-$600 every TWO weeks. Had we not been married I could have just left. I would never want a man to be miserable in our house just because he couldn't afford a divorce or didn't want the pressure of going through it. Does any of this make sense? One other reason we haven't married is that I wanted my surname to stay the same as my son's. I guess we could have gotten around this by me not changing my name....but then, what's the point of the piece of paper...you still get odd questions (your is not odd, though) and looks when going to parent teacher conferences, signing all the cards that go with the kid's files at school, etc..
