"Magic" Finger Ring Manufacturers ?Q.I believe that the Himber rings, other linking ring types, omega rings and other type of items could use a makeover to move somewhere closer to the 90's. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything . . . but the GOLD pinky ring, himber type rings, etc. . look really bad on anyone under 30 years of age. If you've looked at fashions for anyone post "baby boom" age. . .they wouldn't be caught dead with a gold ring on unless it was a wedding ring. Silver or Silver looking rings are what is being worn out there. . .and in huge quantities. With a simple (not gaudy) silver ring. . it can be worn on any finger, thumb and 2 or 3 of them on each hand (even the toes for that matter). But, you'd never see a gold ring worn in the same fashion. If I showed up with a gold ring on my hand. . it would scream MAGIC PROP to anyone my age or younger (I'm 34). Gold rings on younger adults remind people of the gold "pinky ring" salesman from the 80's or the age-old "Mafia" look. Both which don't work for Post "Baby Boomers". A.The fact that with a silver ring. . we can wear them in such quantity on our fingers opens up many possibilties to a "smart" marketer/manufacturer of such products. Hell, a whole 8 ring Linking Finger ring routine could be pulled off if you made the rings simple, fashionable and SILVER. It wouldn't look out of place at all to have one ring on your thumb, a few on your fingers of one hand and a couple others on the other hand. They don't have to all LOOK the same. . they just have to look COOL and be silver. If you think this is a joke. . .take a minute to look at the hands of young, active adults that you know who are into music, the arts, etc. . (They are also the people the opened up their arms graciously to a perception of David Blaine being a "REAL" performer.) Anyway, that's my discourse on the subject. If someone is already making these. . please let me know. I have a himber ring and I thought it might be a good idea to wear it permanently. WRONG! Apart from looking like a right pillock (the design on mine is quite awful) my finger went green. You make a good point about having a purchasing choice in ring color. I don't think that silver is necessarily the preferred choice among "our" age group (I'm 35), maybe just the folks you know, but having a choice of colors is a good idea. Two other points. Old Mak said he doesn't wear his ring, and this may be a good idea. For many presentations of the Himber ring, it is better that you're not wearing the ring. This would, of course, be different for a ring like the Omega ring. Also, perhaps you could have the current rings silver plated? I don't know much about the process, but it is probably possible. The reason for this would be that the sale of magic rings may not be enough to warrent them offering them in both colors.
