Crystal Bouquet JewelryQ.My sister-in-law to be is looking for some suggestions for gifts to give her attendants. She says she doesn't want to give them jewelry. I passed on ideas from my own wedding, friends' weddings and weddings that I've been in: crystal paperweights, china bowls, vases, picture frames, music boxes, etc. I also suggested that she get them a gift certificate for some kind of "spa" service or "pamper yourself" treat like a facial or a manicure, etc. That's all I could come up with off the top of my head, so i thought I'd turn to good old Usenet for some more tips! anyone have any? A.I gave my attendants handmade (cross-stitched) bookmarks with their names and the wedding date, and coffee-table type books. Everyone got a book, so they were all "treated the same", but the topic of the books were individualized (my sister got the photography book "Sisters", my Best Woman who is something of a gourmet cook got a beautiful cookbook, my bridesman who shares my interest in fantasy and science fiction got a book of JRR Tolkien artwork, and my from-Ohio cousin got a book of scenic photography of California. The flower girl got a picture book called "The Pigs' Wedding" : plus a cloth doll dressed in an ivory gown and carrying a bouquet of blue flowers ("Miss Helen Sears" from the Boston Museum Catalog). Frames or albums with wedding photos is a classic, of course. Or how about something related to a shared hobby or sport? Someone on this ng once said all of her friends collected something -- different things, each of them, but they all had collections of *something* -- so she bought a cat figurine for one, a china teacup for another, whatever.
