Bridal Party gifts

Q.We are trying to decide what kinds of gifts we should get for our wedding party. What have some of you been giving (or receiving)? Also, is it customary to get gifts for the parents of both bride and groom, since, in our case, they are all involved in planing some part of our wedding. I mentioned gifts for the families to my future >mother-in-law, and she said we should not do that at all

A.Some other gift suggestions for BM (I received some of these): silver jewelry box with initials engraved crystal bud vase jewelry (that they woudl wear everyday, not for the wedding) nice stationary set candle holders with nice candles (I love candles!!) anything crystal that they might actually use (even a bowl) A nice gift for the men is a leather portfolio (my husband got one of these and loves it) I would avoid the normal gifts of moneyclips, cuff links, pens, and flasks for the men. I think men are harder, but go to a store that you would not typically go for wedding gifts (like Sears). Men love Sears. If they are into golf, golf items make good gifts as well. Personalized gifts are always best (choose something that fits each person).
