Estate Wedding Jewelry
Q.now I have a major-ish wedding anniversary approaching, and I'm wondering what "my" style of wedding/engagement rings really is. I'm looking for ideas. If you got your ring a long time ago, do you still like it? Did you feel pressure to get a diamond? Is yellow gold absolutely and completely dowdy and passe? (In the latest L'Officiel magazine, I noticed that there was not a single jewelry advertisment that featured yellow gold; everything was white gold or platinum.)
A.I do love estate jewelry ... whenever I'm checking out the jewelry departments at stores like NM and Saks, I always wander into the estate section and drool over the art deco diamond bracelets, etc. I can just see us spending the weekend in Boston, visiting Firestone and Parsons and "Shrump, Crump, and Lump" on Newbury Street ... enjoying the view of the Public Garden from our room, getting smashed on champagne and buying something rahthah unexpected ... sounds like big fun! Also, a college friend of mine has a brother in the estate jewelry business--I could talk to him about it, too.
