Illusion Toe Ring, Illusion Weavers ?Q.I am a 32nd level sorceror, and I keep getting trapped by those illusion weavers. I have fast recovery, but not fast block. They are the only monster I have found that I can't go toe-to-toe with. Even Diablo, isn't that fast. I found myself getting paranoid on level 8, because you never know when they are going to show up. A.*sniff* I Know how you feel... and once the whole swarm is there, you're SOL... as you can't even get down the stairs anymore. Lost my lovely little Scavanger's Carapace to the blighters a few days back, due to the fact I couldn't get back down to retrieve it. Ah well, guess that's what Flash is for... not that you live long enough to cast it. =) Now I know why I play a Warrior (currently level 32). When I run into Illusion Weavers, I change to my big axe (a Kings Battle Axe of flame? 1-6 points of fire damage) and my strength enhancers. Like this, I do 150+ points of damage per hit. Even on Nightmare, they're out of there in one blow--no chance for them to go hide and heal, just dead. The Warrior's natural fast hit recovery and stun resistance really helps here. I guess this is just another advantage of a Warrior. I've yet to be so gang piled that I couldn't cast phase (usually its a 50/50 shot) and then run some. The trick is to get enough of them far enough away so that you can actually reduce the number at the bottom. I tend to carry a second set of equipment at all times so that I have something to wear when I die (since equipment is more important for a warrior). Note that they cannot open gates and such, so just close them in behind a fence and firewall the area... I suspect that for a mage (someone who actually has mana), flame wave would work very well in moderate numbers.
