looking for books on silver jewelry making

Q.I'm looking for a nice book or books on making silver jewelry, particularly necklaces, bracelets, and brooches. I'd like the book to have a lot of photos for inspiration, and techniques. African-style or Indian-style would be preferable, but not necessary. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A.One book that's just about indispensable for a beginning silversmith is Tim McCreight's "The Complete Metalsmith". It's about techniques much more than design but it will tell you how to do just about anything a beginner or intermediate smith is likely to want to do. As far as Indian jewelry in particular is concerned: Oscar T. Branson's Indian Jewelry Making, Volume 1 and 2, are pretty good. Also useful, although wonderfully dated is Ben Hunt's Indian Silversmithing.
