Pls help, interested in learning basics

Q.What is the best way to start out making jewelry and lapidary. What recommendations would you give, as I would like to start out just as a hobby, maybe eventually for profit. I have checked around my local area, and to no avail...no classes. Is there a good site, or a book or video anyone could recommend?

A.Try : http://www.frii.com/~dnorris Very good, and very cheap. Mr.Norris has a CDrom with his beginners course. Buy it, do all the works, afterwards enroll in his Internet advanced course. Afterwards, you can buy books, videos, etc, because you will have an idea on what you are going.
