Man Wedding Jewelry
Q.Traditionally, it seems that the man proposes to the woman with an engagement ring, which she wears. Then at the actual wedding, both the man and the woman give one another wedding bands. This leaves the woman with both an engagement ring and a wedding band, whereas until the wedding day, the man has nothing on his finger and only a wedding band after that. I am curious if anyone has deviated from this. I'm sure there are woman out there who have proposed to her man and am wondering if a woman proposes to a man, if she gives him an engagement ring. Do you know of any men with both engagement rings and wedding rings and if so what does his engagement ring look like?
A.I had bought matching plain white gold wedding bands to wear. We bought my wedding ring first-- an engagement-style 1/4 solitaire with a wrap ring, again in white gold. It and the wrap and my engagement band have been soldered together, and I'll wear it with the wrap nearest to my hand, and the engagement band to the outside. We bought Joel's ring more recently, a thicker, larger white gold confort-fit band with a milgrain edge. He took off his engagement band (as did I) a few months ago-- mine so it could be soldered, his so he could get it OFF his finger! He'd gained a bit of weight and his knuckle had swollen. Friends of ours had matching engagement rings. He proposed, and they both had gold bands, on the thicker side, with aquamarine stones in them.
