Religious Cross Jewelry
Q.Yesterday, as I was dressing for Easter Church services, as I put a cross necklace on, I later thought: "Does the Queen of England ever wear a cross necklace? Or cross motif brooches or crowns?" I am not referring to a Maltese cross,but a cross which would resemble the crucifixion cross,either a crucifix or a cross where the vertical bar is longer than the perpendicular horizontal bar." The Duchess of Windsor had her cross charm bracelet which her David said were her crosses she had to bear. Diana was photographed wearing an amethyst cross once with a purple ball gown. Have any of the recent British royal ladies been photographed wearing any (religious) cross necklaces? Diana was buried with a rosary which does contain a cross. What brought all of this to mind,was the Christian commemoration of Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The Queen had no Easter message or did she give an Easter message?
A.That's a good question. I never thought about it but I don't recall ever seeing any jewelry with a cross motif on any of them. My guess the answer has to do with history and the war between Catholics and Protestants for the British throne.
