Q.I'm updating the plus-size bridal and lingerie resources for an upcoming issue of BBW magazine. If you have a fave outlet for sexy lingerie, or just comfy stuff that fits, tell us about it. Have you (or someone near to you) been a bride recently? Where did you find the best selection of plus-size wedding gowns? Find any great places for accessories? Did you have any wedding problems related to your size? Did you get dissed by some scrawny bridal consultant in a snobby store? Get insulted by future in-laws?
A.My wedding dress just came in. Except for a few alterations, it is perfect. The manufacturer is Ange D'amour. They have many dresses from a size 4Misses to a 64W. (That is like a 96" bust!) Mine is ivory, sweetheart neckline, V-waistline, with a train, very heavy beading on the bodice,sleeves, and skirt. A keyhole opening in the back. I am very pleased with it. The thing I had the hardest time finding was wedding shoes in an 11 Wide. I wound up with ballet slippers, as that was all I could find for my big ole' feet! And wedding jewelry to fit larger necks. I string beads, and have the knowledge to make a very nice pearl and rhinestone necklace, but the ones at the bridal shop only came in 16" length. I would have liked to just buy something, but nothing to fit! Also, if you have a source for an "all-in-one" bra and girdle thing for supersize very tall women, let me know. The lingerie shop sold to a 52DD, but the cups hit me under the bust! So, I am having to wear a bustier that doesn't come down all the way. (Good thing the skirt is full). No problem with the bridal slip, it comes to a 60" waist!
