Q.What are your experiences with buying a wedding/engagement ring? We are going out this weekend to buy one. Don't know price range at the moment. Any suggestions? Comments? I'm definately going with a diamond of some sort, leaning toward a solitaire. Anybody got a silver instead of the traditional gold band/ring? Also what kind of price range did you all go with?
A.It sounds like you wear only silver, like me! You may have a hard time finding a silver ring if you go to a traditional type of jewelry store (a gallery might make one for you). I think in general, they don't put very expensive stones of any type into a silver settings (at least I have not seen any). I'm not sure about this, but I think it is because silver can be very soft, and it tarnishes. My advice on buying a wedding ring is: don't let anyone tell you that they HAVE to match! If you want them to, fine, as long as you both like them. Remember, you'll have to wear them for a long time, so isn't it more important that you like them? Just my 2 cents.
