Vintage jewelry
Q.have been more recently been collecting vintage jewelry (I had some pieces left to me and sometimes pick up pieces as I see them). I was curious if any others collect old jewelry and what some of their favorite pieces are. The one piece I like (and wear) is a 14K tiny book locket
A.I love vintage jewelry, too! I have a lot of crystal brooches from the 40s and 50s, many with aurora borealis stones, that I started collecting in the 80s. I had a college budget and at $5US or less back then, it was a habit that mushroomed easily, and I haunted my share of flea markets or craft show stalls. I also inherited some beautiful pieces from my mother: 40s turquoise/silver Navajo bracelets; 50s Mexican centavo clip-on earrings, a knuckly turquoise/silver poison ring and sterling whispering angel/devil screw-back earrings; 60s Thai silver/enamel earrings, bracelets and hairsticks and a beautiful 10 kt. smoked topaz teardrop pendant w/ matching (much smaller) pendant earrings from the 70s. From my grandmother, I have a turn-of-the-century large cameo of a young woman strolling down a garden path and a 20s white gold filigree ring with two small diamonds and a sapphire. It's all different in style, but I love each and every piece!.
